Wiktionary:
Middle English trappe, from Old English træppe, treppe (“trap, snare”) (also in betræppan (“to trap”)) from Proto-Germanic *trap-. Akin to Old High German trappa, trapa (“trap, snare”), Middle Dutch trappe (“trap, snare”), Middle Low German treppe (“step, stair”) (German Treppe "step, stair"), Old English treppan (“to step, tread”) and possibly Albanian trap "raft, channel, path". Connection to "step" is "that upon which one steps". French trappe and Spanish trampa are ultimately borrowings from Germanic.
Noun: trap (plural traps)

Dear readers of our blog,
we are writing on this blogpost for about 4 weeks now due to the recent changes in our galaxy.
We watched narrowly a change in gameplay as well in set up of alliances. In fact this diversification concerned us insomuch that we decided to tell you about this scary development.
Referring to Wikipedia and Wiktionary you can also find kinda “traps“ in our Galaxy.

Lets have a look into history first:
when Ubisoft felt under pressure to introduce the matchmaker in March 2014, it was due to the fact that there were a few Top Alliances (we don't want to denunciate!) appointed for war always with the same opponents. The winning team was decided BEFORE start of war. They were able to do that, because you have been able to wait for these opponents shield down. All alliances had a war shield (same as today) and alliances were able to manually search for their opponents they liked to fight (Leader Board).
On the one hand that was great, because you could look for the perfect opponent to match for your alliance and your conditions (holiday, illness, weak performance, …), on the other hand it was f*cking bullsh*t for alliances not willing to take part in real wars, only to stay on their rank… because they were afraid of losing a war against opponents that might have been stronger than themselves!!!! Most of their wars were made to hold rank without fighting much.
-> so much to the history of the matchmaker and the war choosing performance before 17.March 2014.

What you also need to know is:
Initially alliances were split into 3 different categories:
| 1-3 Player alliances | were allowed only to fight 1-3 player alliances |
| 4-9 Player alliances | were allowed only to fight 4-9 player alliances |
| 10-20 Player alliances | were allowed only to fight 10-20 player alliances |
Explanation is still to find here in your green bunkers:
looking like THAT:
—>> AT THAT POINT OF TIME (March 2014) there were only ~2 alliances who were settled to fight in the „10-20 Player alliance category“ by looking like that:

Today, if you have a closer look into the leader board you can see lots of alliances with one single high level opponent (or one high level player and up to 19 beyond level 100 and downwards!) - IF NOW THIS PLAYER [of the single player alliance] INTENDS TO STAY ONLINE 24H & WAITS FOR ANY ALLIANCE TO MATCH HIM FOR WAR (i.e. this kind of alliance does not declare war on it's behalf but sits like a spider in its' web waiting for the next victim to be matched, ITS MENT TO BE A TRAP!!!
Note: you don't need the 19 low level players anymore, because the categories are deleted now. Today a full 20 member alliance can fight a single member alliance! See here:
or
Before March 17th the "mother of all traps" was already hard to fight, because when alliances with pretty active fighting allies got this kind they weren't able to gain a similar (referred to their value) amount of warpoints (due to the enemies with so low levels) while the trap opponents got a free choice to gain masses of points at their high level opponents. Its similar to a so-called real "trap" / or a one-way road. Taking lots of points but presenting very few ones. - Every player how is not dumb in mathematics now, can see the problem rising!
vs

Funny note: since change of the war matching system, the categories [in which the alliances fight in] are deleted (though Ubisoft states in their guidelines it would still work!!! We are sorry to say, but Ubisoft is still unable to change their „book of rules“ (to be shown at your green bunker -> i) due to their poor capabilities and their even poorer workout of the Android version.
All higher level players before March already were afraid that more and more alliances will adapt their gameplay to the new rules of the game. NOW you can see that the rising number of „trap“ alliances able to block alliances with almost perfect skilled warriors the maximum number of war days: 7 days, are increasing almost up to 3000% to the number available in march!
But the most bitter idea behind this warpoint system, is: instead of granting a hard fighting team 200 warpoints at the end of the game (or 200 per day…) they are punished for not being able to defeat a trap within 24 hours, and in the end they got a reward of ~80 warpoints for one week!!!! Thank you Ubisoft for this great change!!! You understand how to destroy a working game with only a few changes in programming.
We can understand why almost all top alliances ask for shield down and to kill the matchmaker!
Personal remark: if such trap alliances only attack from a level 6 base to a level 8 opponent from time to time they can easily hold the war bar in the middle. Because the high level players will receive a penalty bonus because they HAVE to attack low level players - only cuz the single high level player stays ONLINE all of the time.
Even more funny: It’s not only ONE player playing this profile in this trap. (supposed this alliance is set only to personally punish other players…) they stay online for 24 hrs... making points - presenting NOTHING!!!
yes, yes, yes, we, and we guess you as well, know that sometimes chemistry doesn't work properly:
We already talked about a nice and respectful way of getting along with each other, there are still MASSES of players who do not read our blog…. what a pity!
Fazit: we suggest to play Clash of Clans (from Supercell) if you want to have a great teamplay, or: return back to single playing performance as you are much more efficient and successful, than with a good valued upper level team!
THIS GAME CHANGED BACK TO EGOIST-SUPPORTING-GAMEPLAY!!!

GOODBYE TEAMPLAY!
yours,

Additional:
I would furthermore add that the first "traps" looked like 1 high lvl + up to 19 low lvl players -> Trap 1.0
due to the extinction of categories: the updated trap version (only 1 high lvl player) is more successfull and harder to fight -> Trap 2.0
